Frequently asked questions.

Coverage, sourcing, privacy, and report access.

What data powers the reports?

Named reports use the 2024 American Community Survey five-year release. Radius reports allocate populated block-group estimates through certified 2020 Census block points.

What is the difference between a named and radius report?

Named reports use values published for a Census geography. Address-radius reports estimate the share of surrounding block groups that falls inside the selected radius.

Which geographies can I search?

The public search supports states, counties, metropolitan areas, cities, and ZIP Code Tabulation Areas.

Do you retain the address I enter?

No. The address is sent server-side to the U.S. Census Geocoder and is not placed in the report URL or retained by reSpots.

How many reports can I generate?

There is no daily cap. Each connection can request up to 15 reports per minute without verification. Requests above that threshold require human verification. People sharing a public IP share this threshold. Searches, map browsing, and published reports do not count.

How current is the data?

The current public reports use the 2024 ACS five-year release and identify the supporting boundary and allocation vintages in each report.
